Vulnerability

Do not touch me lest you spoil my shape
So carefully formed within this flimsy drape.
I float in limbo only for you to see,
Sharing a secret just between you and me -
But no!  I quiver in terrible fear
As you approach my form - not too near!
You might disfigure me beyond repair
And that would be more than I could bear.

Even so, trembling, I feel I must
Bestow in you a certain trust.
It makes no sense to exist like this -
Indeed it would seem so very remiss -
If no-one could behold my fragile form
Before it's destroyed in a future storm.
So here I hang in the morning dew
Sharing my vulnerability, just with you!
